If your answer is "huh", you may be like most people.
If your answer is "nothing", you may be close to the correct answer.
Leaders that act like big-shots and attempt to control everything often fool themselves. They end up being cat herders….which we all know is an impossible task.
The fact that most of us lead in situations where we are more of a steward than an owner hit me hard this week when I interviewed an airline pilot on the podcast.
He was discussing how much responsibility and oversight he had, but yet he does not own the plane. He is not really "the boss" of the crew. The procedures and checklists have been developed by others.
The pilot is the unquestioned leader of the situation. But he or she must do what a good steward or caretaker does…lead in a way that allows everyone to do what they do best. And return everyone and everything back safely when the assignment is complete.

"In the style of Og Mandino, John Lynch and Patrick Lencioni, Tim weaves a story that challenges us to rethink our view of success and to see it as something that comes from within rather than from the outside, as a matter of character and relationship rather than finance and status. The message is challenging in a most encouraging way and I have to recommend Coach to just about anyone who wants to find a full and satisfying life."
